Based on OPM data and analyses, the reduction of ~317,000 federal employees in 2025 yields estimated annual savings of $58 billion. This uses an average total compensation of $183,000 per employee (salary ~$110,000 plus benefits). Net savings could be lower if some positions are refilled, per varying reports.
