The fact that this is even a thing tells me we should not be paying taxes. If there is so much money to spend on shit like 10k for security, 500 million for NPR and free healthcare for illegals then our taxes should be zero

Shut it down. Who cares. They never do anything to help is anyway.
Shut it down and never open it back up for all I care.

Both shutdown bills crashed this week, and the wreckage left behind tells a bigger story than missed deadlines. It showed how neither party wants to touch the most radioactive spending in Washington.
The Democratic plan, pushed by Chuck Schumer, slipped in $500,000,000 for NPR and a huge expansion of healthcare for millions of non-citizens. All this while the national debt just passed $37,000,000,000,000 and basic services are staring at cuts.
The Republican plan went down too, but that was almost beside the point. The real story is what both sides tried to protect. Democrats shielded elite media and immigration perks. Republicans looked the other way on the same taboos.
These bills didn’t collapse because of “gridlock.” They collapsed because no one wanted to stand on the floor of Congress and defend what was actually in them.
