Hedge fund billionaire Ken Griffin criticized New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s video this evening, calling it “creepy and weird.”
He said the mayor’s spotlight on his $238 million penthouse has made him feel unsafe and has led him to expand Citadel’s footprint in Miami.
The move is expected to impact jobs and tax revenue in New York.
Griffin has been vocal about high taxes and crime in the city for years. Ken Griffin openly calling the mayor’s video creepy and weird is pretty blunt.
When one of the biggest hedge fund guys starts moving more to Miami it sends a loud message.
New York is going to feel these kinds of exits over time.
I don't hate the rich. I don't want to tax them out of existence. I don't feel they pay too little. I realize the rich create jobs, donate money, build things, make things and keep the economy humming. And they are not responsible for how much money I have. That is on me.
