DOJ SAYS IT STILL HAS 5.2 MILLION PAGES OF EPSTEIN FILES TO GO

The Justice Department says it still has 5.2 million pages of Epstein files left to review, and it is calling in a small legal army to get through them.

The DOJ reportedly needs about 400 lawyers from 4 offices, including the Criminal Division, National Security Division, the FBI, and the U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan.

The review is slated for January 5 to 23, which likely means the final document release lands later than many expected.

Congress had set a December 19 deadline under a new transparency law, with redactions allowed to protect victims, but DOJ says the sheer volume is slowing things down.

Lawyers helping with the review are expected to spend 3 to 5 hours a day and plow through about 1,000 documents a day, with telework options and time-off awards used as incentives.

DOJ said last week it found more than a million additional documents potentially linked to Epstein, and releases so far have been heavily redacted, frustrating many on pretty much every side of the aisle.
