Investing.com — UK youth unemployment has risen to its highest level in a decade with the jobless rate for 16 to 24-year-olds reaching 16% in the three months to October, marking the highest rate since early 2015, according to official data released Tuesday.
The number of unemployed young people has grown to 735,000, showing a steady increase since the implementation of higher employer payroll taxes and minimum wage earlier this year.

China’s youth-unemployment rate ticked lower in November, though competition remains fierce for university graduates trying to find work that matches their qualifications.
The jobless rate for those aged 16 to 24, excluding students, fell to 16.9 per cent in November from 17.3 per cent in October, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Thursday.
The rate has eased since August, when the graduation of a record 12.2 million university students over the summer pushed it to 18.9 per cent, the highest level since the data set was adjusted in 2023 to exclude students.
The job market, weighed down by deflationary pressure and external risks, remains plagued by a mismatch between skills and vacancies, pushing many graduates to settle for blue-collar jobs or gig work.

Ghana’s labour force expanded steadily in the first three quarters of 2025, with over 330,000 more persons employed by September compared to March, according to the latest Quarterly Labour Force Survey released by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS).
However, this growth exists alongside profound challenges, including severe youth unemployment, significant labour underutilisation, and widespread mismatches between workers’ skills and their jobs.
Presented by Government Statistician Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu today in Accra, the report shows the labour force constituted over 15 million persons from January to September 2025.
