Trump publicly saying US China has reached a deal and China will send as much rare earth as needed to US
1. China never confirmed that, only stated more details of the principle of agreement framework has been identified and China will approve “Qualified” applications according to the law (no military use rare earth has been approved)
2. Western media pushed for the idea that no rare earth will be controlled by China now, contradicting Chinese statement

Why is there a discrepancy for such an obvious topic? It is to give Trump Admin an excuse down the road to accuse China of not abiding by the London Agreement. Just wait a few more months

This is why the Chinese view Trump Admin is not capable of coming to any Agreement with others as they will never honor their commitment. China will entertain Trump Admin request and if US reaches out to them, but has not approached US on anything
