Judge dismisses Laura Loomer $150M defamation case against Bill Maher. Court finds satire protected under First Amendment, plaintiff fails to show damages or actual malice standard

A US federal judge has thrown out far-right activist Laura Loomer’s $150 million defamation lawsuit against comedian Bill Maher over a 2024 late-night joke implying she had a sexual relationship with Donald Trump. The court ruled that Maher’s comments were clearly satirical and could not reasonably be interpreted as factual, and that Loomer failed to prove harm or actual malice. This aligns with longstanding precedent that satire and rhetorical hyperbole are protected under the First Amendment.

The judge noted Loomer could not identify anyone who believed she was romantically involved with Trump because of Maher’s joke, nor did she provide evidence of reputational or financial loss. In fact, her income increased in 2024, and she maintained access to Trump and his circle. As a public figure, she also failed to meet the ‘actual malice’ standard required for defamation claims.

Loomer’s loss adds to a series of recent courtroom defeats for Trump allies pursuing defamation claims against media figures. Similar cases, including those involving Kash Patel and Donald Trump himself, have been dismissed on legal grounds.

So the Judge absolutely destroyed Loomer in her frivolous lawsuit against Bill Maher.

Here are the main takeaways:

-The Plaintiff (Loomer) was such a moron, that SHE provided 39 tweets that Bill Maher was actually able to use in his DEFENSE because they were posted BEFORE his episode aired, accusing Laura of having sexual relations with Trump.

-The Judge essentially stated that Loomer was so unappealing and untouchable, that nobody actually would have been convinced by Bill Maher that the two had sex when he made the joke.

-Based on Laura Loomer’s OWN Tweets about Trump “warming her hands when they were cold”, and saying “I love you ” to each other.. that Bill Maher couldn’t have acted in malice when suggesting that there was some kind of weird sexual attraction there.

-Loomer couldn’t get a single person, not even her own father, to testify in her defense for the case, not a SINGLE friend or colleague, was willing to testify that they were adversely moved or convinced by Maher’s joke about her having sexual relations with Trump.

– Loomer refused to release her Financial and Tax information (She wanted to hide who was funding her propaganda)

-The financial information she DID disclose in verbal testimony, Loomer stated that she actually had an INCREASE in income after the Bill Maher episode aired.
(Ironically, this is around the same time she took off with a $60k advance my company gave her, putting her at a SIGNIFICANT net POSITIVE and therefore, losing her case for “damages” (haha get wrecked)
