One National Guardsman, 20-year-old Army Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, who was shot on Wednesday in Washington, DC, is not expected to recover, Beckstrom’s father said.
“I’m holding her hand right now,” Gary Beckstrom said. “She has a mortal wound. It’s not going to be a recovery.”

He reportedly used a .357 revolver handgun to execute the attack.

The injured soldiers were identified as Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe, 24, and Army Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, members of the West Virginia National Guard. Specialist Beckstrom’s father said in a brief interview that she had a “mortal wound” and was unlikely to recover. A man who answered the phone at Sergeant Wolfe’s home asked for “prayers for my son,” but would not speak further.
