Bill Maher is getting hammered after saying Democrats need to stop listening to out of touch celebrities

He warned Democrats to cut loose wealthy Hollywood elites because they are actually hurting the party and are completely out of touch with regular Americans. Some are calling him a traitor while others say he is finally speaking truth.

“Cut them loose”; Maher warned Democrats that celebrities are a net negative for voters.

Bill Maher told the newly-launched California Post that Hollywood celebrities need to “shut the fuck up” when it comes to politics if the Democratic party wants to have even a shot at reclaiming the White House in future elections.

“Hollywood [is] sort of the epicenter of the woke left. I don’t think they’re doing the Democratic Party any favors,” the “Real Time” host said. “I think if Democrats want to win elections in the future, job one, tell the celebrities to ‘Just shut the fuck up. You’re not helping. You don’t strike people in most of the country as sensible or in touch with reality.’”

Maher is often outspoken against the Hollywood left, and he’s previously blamed them for his continued awards losses in the industry. Maher’s “Club Random” was a Golden Globe nominee this year for best podcast but lost to Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang.” Prior to the ceremony, Maher predicted he would lose.

“The sensible majority”; Maher claims normal Americans can no longer relate to elites.

Bill Maher is saying out loud what most people feel every time they see a multi-millionaire actor lecturing them from a mansion. The era of the “celebrity endorsement” is dead, but Hollywood hasn’t checked the news yet. People are struggling to put gas in their cars and pay their rent, and the last thing they want is a lecture on social justice from someone who hasn’t seen the inside of a grocery store in a decade.

The problem for the Democrats is that they have become addicted to the donor money and the “cool factor” that comes with the Hollywood elite. They think a concert or a red carpet event moves the needle, but it actually just makes them look like they belong to a private club that most Americans aren’t invited to. Maher is right that these stars aren’t “raising awareness,” they are just raising the blood pressure of the working class.

When you have a massive gap between the people who make the content and the people who watch it, the system breaks. Maher is warning his own party that they are becoming the party of the “gated community,” and if they don’t start listening to people who actually work for a living, they are going to keep losing the people who used to be their base.
