Australia – Severely Disabled Teenage Girl Forced into Chemo Treatment by NSW Supreme Court

A severely disabled 14-year-old will be forced to undergo “invasive” and potentially damaging cancer treatment against the wishes of her parents and doctor.

The young girl has six seizures a day and will be forced to undergo “invasive” cancer treatment despite her family’s desire for her to “die peacefully” at home following a landmark court ruling.

The day before the girl was diagnosed, she had to be “forcefully held in place for two hours” in order to receive a blood transfusion.

On one occasion it took three nurses, the girl’s stepfather and a doctor to restrain the girl for treatment in hospital.

The hospital is set to commence treatment tomorrow.

The girl has a development age of about 16 to 18 months old and is having seven to 10 seizures per week but may experience up to six seizures in a cluster on one day.
