Law enforcement has ordered a full lockdown in New Canton, Illinois after reports of an active shooter within the town limits. The Pike County Sheriff’s Department confirmed this is an “active situation” and advised all residents to stay indoors, lock doors, and remain alert until further notice.

A helicopter has been observed circling the area and drones are being utilised to assist in the operation. Roads near the residence on Walnut and Mississippi Streets are blocked and traffic is being diverted.
Authorities are urging the public to avoid the area to allow emergency responders to work safely.
