A company in Japan has unveiled a “human refrigerator” in an effort to keep people cool as temperatures rise to unprecedented levels.

It’s no secret that the climate is getting hotter around the world, as Europe recently suffered a heatwave that may have contributed to thousands of additional deaths. Japan has also been hit hard, as the country recently had to create a new word for when temperatures pass 40 degrees.

But Trusco may have the answer, as they’ve developed a fridge that’s designed for people to climb into to escape the heat.

Named the “Personal Cooling Box,” it is described on the company’s website as being “like a human refrigerator.” Just as the name suggests, it’s a large box standing at just over two meters tall, with a little seat for you to perch on.
