War Department to partner with OpenAI to add ChatGPT to its artificial intelligence platform

The War Department said Monday that it is partnering with OpenAI to help implement ChatGPT onto its artificial intelligence platform, GenAI.mil, which will make ChatGPT’s advanced language models available to all 3 million department personnel.

The addition of ChatGPT comes just two months after the department launched its “Gemini for Government” tool, which is a specialized version of Google’s Gemini that has been approved to handle controlled unclassified information.

“ChatGPT will be made available to enhance mission execution and readiness, delivering reliable capabilities to the joint force,” the department said in a news release.
