USU building evacuated after suspicious package before TPUSA event

LOGAN, Utah (KUTV) — A suspicious package forced an emergency evacuation on the Utah State University campus.

The Old Main Building was evacuated just before 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The campus was given an “all clear” approximately one hour later.

“Leave immediately using the nearest exit,” the alert read, in part. “Use stairs, not elevators. Take only essential items. Go to your department’s evacuation area if applicable.”

This comes as the university prepares to host the Turning Point USA event, nearly three weeks after the organization’s founder, Charlie Kirk, was shot and killed at Utah Valley University.
