This applies to the period 2015–2021. Officially, the funds were allocated for the fight against COVID-19 and humanitarian aid.
In fact, the money went to various criminal groups and structures, as well as radical Islamists.
British grants were used, among other things, to finance ISIS in Syria.
Among the recipients of housing benefits and disability payments were human traffickers.
A report on this was prepared in 2023 at the request of the British intelligence services; it was decided not to make the document public in order to avoid a major political scandal.
