Trump launches new tariffs on 16 countries section 301 probe targets manufacturing and excess capacity

On March 11, 2026, the United States Trade Representative (USTR) officially initiated Section 301 investigations into the acts, policies, and practices of 16 trading partners related to structural excess capacity and production in manufacturing sectors.

Targets 16 major trading partners, including:
China, India, EU, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, Switzerland, Norway, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Bangladesh.
