Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has pulled no punches in an unprecedented move, candidly stating that the resistance to Elon Musk’s DOGE in Washington is driven by vested interests. According to Bessent, lobbyists in D.C. don’t want to lose the tax money that has been flowing into their pockets for years, and they’ll stop at nothing to keep it that way. Bessent, who’s been in Washington for only eight weeks, bluntly explained that if you don’t move quickly enough, the lobbyists will make sure things don’t go forward, something Musk knows all too well.
Bessent’s words ring true: the longer you take to make progress, the more influential special interests pile on to keep things stagnant. In his words, “Within a 10-mile radius of here, 25% of the GDP of the US pulsates through here every day. And everybody wants to just skim a little.” This is the heart of the Washington swamp—a complex web of corporate elites and political insiders who have cultivated a system of wealth and power that benefits them, often at the expense of the public.
Bessent didn’t hold back when he said, “People are mad at you because you’re moving their cheese. It’s not their cheese, it’s the American people’s cheese. 100%. Every dollar spent goes into someone’s pocket, and that person’s going to fight tooth and nail to get that dollar to keep flowing into their pockets.” These words are a stark reminder of the economic manipulation that keeps the wheels of Washington turning, and it’s something that we, the people, are fed up with.
This isn’t about politics—it’s about power. The corporate-political complex has made the federal government far too powerful. As Bessent said, “There is no winning in Elon’s role. Every single time he takes action, there are people that are going to come after him.” And he’s right. Musk’s fight with the establishment is one of the last frontiers where the little guy has a shot at reclaiming power from those who have held it for too long.
The people want more—we want DOGE to keep pushing, keep exposing the corruption, and, most importantly, return power to the people. Enough is enough—the elites have held too much sway for too long, and it’s time for that to change.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says the quiet part out loud. The resistance to Elon Musk’s DOGE in DC is because lobbyists want our tax money “to keep flowing into their pockets”
