Three Ohio police officers shot in ambush at dead-end road

Three officers gunned down at lunch in broad daylight. This was not random. It was planned. The shooter came with gear and intent. The badge does not shield anyone anymore.

Welsh said the suspect ambushed the officers with a high-powered rifle at a dead-end road, leading to a shootout in which the suspect died.

At this time, Welsh said it is not known if the suspect died by officer gunfire or a self-inflicted gunshot.

Welsh could not comment on what brought the officers to the area.

Welsh and Lorain Police Deputy Chief Michael Failing said there is only one suspect.

While his name was not released, Welsh described the suspect as a 28-year-old man.
