The World’s largest AI Data Center will be built in rural Ohio

Federal officials from the Trump administration joined local leaders and SoftBank executives in Pike County to announce a massive new power plant and AI data center.

SoftBank, a Japanese company, is planning to build a 10-gigawatt power plant, including 9.2 gigawatts of natural gas generation, that will connect to the local grid and power to a new 10-gigawatt data center development.

SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son that the AI data center will be the largest in the world.

“This is the center of our superintelligence,” Son said.

Son said over time he is looking to invest $1 trillion in the U.S. data center space.

Chris Wright, U.S. Secretary of Energy drove home how truly big this project is.

“This facility that’s going to be built here is bigger than any facility ever built in world history,” Secretary Wright told the crowd.

They are using the former site of a nuclear weapons plant.
