The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating a near-miss incident involving the Gonzaga men’s basketball team aboard a chartered Embraer E135 jet. The jet, operated by Key Lime Air, had just landed at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) from Spokane when it nearly collided with a Delta Airlines plane taking off.

The incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. on December 27, 2024, as the jet was taxiing to its gate. Air traffic controllers had instructed the jet to hold at a point to avoid crossing the runway into the Delta flight’s path. However, the jet continued past the holding point, triggering an urgent “Stop! Stop! Stop!” from the controller. The quick action prevented a potential disaster.
