6 people shot outside Sam’s BBQ in East Austin, suspect arrested on aggravated assault charge

AUSTIN (KXAN) — One person was arrested in connection with a shooting outside of Sam’s BBQ in east Austin on Sunday night, according to the Austin Police Department. Police said six people were treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries following the shooting.

Wesley Earl Brown, 24, is facing an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge. Austin Police said Brown was booked into the Travis County Jail. KXAN is working to find attorney representation for Brown and will reach out for a comment regarding the allegations.

Austin Police said several 911 calls reported about shots being fired at 2000 East 12th Street. That call came in at 8:26 p.m.

KXAN asked if Sam’s BBQ would like to provide a comment regarding the incident and declined.
