President Donald Trump remained silent amid accusations of a ‘cover-up’ after the release of thousands of files related to convicted pedophile Jeffery Epstein.
The president hyped the economy while speaking at a rally in North Carolina on Friday night but declined to address the growing outrage over his refusal to release all the documents related to Epstein.
The Department of Justice released more than 300,000 pages of evidence connected with the case – including images of Bill Clinton, Michael Jackson and Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell.
However, there are still many files that were left redacted in defiance of Congress. There has been rampant speculation that the administration was protecting powerful people implicated in Epstein’s crimes.
After the rally Trump flew to Mar-a-Lago amid a growing chorus of criticism from both Democrats and Republicans.
Republican Thomas Massie and Democrat Ro Khanna – who pushed to release the files – said that Trump’s release was insufficient.
‘Unfortunately, today’s document release by [Attorney General Pam Bondi] grossly fails to comply with both the spirit and the letter of the law that @realDonaldTrump signed just 30 days ago,’ Massie wrote.
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called for Attorney General Pam Bondi to resign.
‘Now the coverup is out in the open,’ Ocasio-Cortez said. ‘Protecting a bunch of rapists and pedophiles because they have money, power, and connections. Bondi should resign tonight.’
Republicans like Nancy Mace and Marjorie Taylor Greene were also unsatisfied with the release.
