Russian Olympic champs from 1994 onboard along with other Russian skaters

World figure skating champions in pairs as part of the Russian national team Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov was on board a passenger plane that crashed in the skies of Washington.

“On board the crashed plane were our coaches Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov,” the source told TASS.

52-year-old Shishkova and 55-year-old Naumov are the winners of the 1994 World Championships, they also became silver and bronze medalists of the world championships in pair skating, won one silver and four bronze medals at the European Championships, won the Grand Prix final of the International Skating Union season 1995/96. After the end of their careers, Shishkova and Naumova switched to coaching and have been living in the USA since 1998.

According to TASS, the bronze medalist of the USSR Championship in pair skating Inna Volyanskaya was also on board.

“There was an ex-Russian figure skating coach Inna Volyanskaya on board the crashed plane,” the source said.
