People are ripping Kevin O’Leary after he brushed off local backlash as fake or AI generated

Kevin O’Leary is getting absolutely eviscerated after locals in Utah blew up his plan for a 40,000 acre AI data center that would guzzle more electricity than the entire state while regular people are already getting hammered at the pump with gas hitting $5.37 to $5.60 a gallon in spots and rent squeezing families into the ground.

The clip shows actual Utah residents staring down the camera saying they don’t get why their state is letting some Canadian company roll in and take advantage like this. O’Leary’s response is straight arrogance, claiming the protesters are all bussed in paid activists or that the backlash is just “AI generated.”

Billionaire Kevin O'leary says 2 people fighting data centers in Utah are Chinese agents. Turns out its just 2 local girls in Utah, they make a hilarious video calling him the fuck out 😂

People are taking it personally because this is the exact squeeze everyone’s feeling. Working two jobs just to cover groceries and utilities that keep climbing while wages flatline, and now billionaires like this Shark Tank guy are forcing massive power hungry projects on communities that can’t even keep the lights on affordably without jacking up everyone’s bills.

The hidden context that makes it insulting is how these tech elites preach innovation and “the future” but never mention how their empires get built on the backs of the same working class they’re replacing with AI agents or pricing people out of housing entirely.

His excuses get torn apart in the comments as pure deflection, with replies piling on like “NIMBY my ass, this is your backyard now getting turned into a server farm while we pay the price” and “millionaire swoops in, calls locals fake, classic out of touch BS.”
