(WAVY) — An Ohio lawmaker is forging a new frontier, proposing a bill that would ban artificial intelligence marriages in Ohio and would ban AI entities from gaining legal personhood. It would also prevent AI from owning property, holding a position in a company, having financial accounts and getting married.
University of Virginia Law professor Lawrence Solum said in Virginia, a ban wouldn’t need to be proposed because it’s already not legal given how Virginia’s code is worded.
“The Virginia code says the minimum age in which a person may marry shall be 18,” Solum said. “So to marry, you have to be 18 years old and you have to be a person.”
