In Australia, a meteorite crashed into a new Tesla car that was driving down the road at the time. Channel 10 News reported on this unusual incident.

Veterinarian Andrew Melville-Smith and his wife miraculously survived, and experts said this could be the first such case in the world.

Representatives of the South Australian Museum noted that the glass had clearly been exposed to high temperatures, which is typical for a space object entering the atmosphere.

On a section of the Augusta Highway, north of Port Germain, the veterinarian was returning home with his wife after picking up the keys to his new car.

As the car was driving along the highway, there was a sudden loud bang.

“Everything disappeared instantly. The windshield shattered, white smoke filled the cabin, and there was a smell of burning. I thought we had crashed,” said the doctor.

After stopping, it became clear that a crater-like dent had formed on the windshield.

It was warm to the touch, and parts of the acrylic layer had changed color, as if they had been burned.

If it is confirmed that this was a meteorite, then this collision could be the first reliably recorded case of a meteorite striking a moving vehicle.
