Mangione spared death penalty in UnitedHealthcare CEO murder case

Federal court records confirm that Luigi Mangione will not face the death penalty if convicted for murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, and federal firearms charges carrying the possibility of execution were dismissed. What is left are stalking charges that carry a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole. People fixating on the death penalty ruling are missing the bigger point: Mangione is still facing the harshest possible outcome under law, and sparing the death penalty does not mean leniency or a light sentence.
