London ‘acid attack’: Nine people including mother and two young children are rushed to hospital after ‘corrosive substance’ throw

A mother and her two young children are among nine injured who have been rushed to hospital after a suspected acid attack in south London, police said.

Officers have launched an investigation after a suspected corrosive substance was thrown at the trio in Lessar Avenue, Clapham South.

The attacker fled the scene after the incident, with Metropolitan Police now using a helicopter to assist the manhunt.

Three other people – who are all adults – have also been rushed to hospitals after sustaining injuries.

A further three police officers also received medical attention after responding to the scene, although their injuries are said to be minor.

It is believed all but the first three were ‘inadvertently’ injured while rushing to the family’s aid.

Photos from the scene show an abandoned silver hatchback abandoned with its doors open on the street where homes sell for as much as £3million.
