FBI and Las Vegas Metro Police raided a home in northeast Las Vegas (on Sugar Springs Drive) after reports of people getting sick. They found a suspected unlicensed biolab in the garage with refrigerators full of vials containing unknown liquids, lab equipment, a centrifuge, and over 1,000 samples. Some materials were labeled in Mandarin.

The property is linked to Jia Bei Zhu (also known as Jesse Zhu or David He), a Chinese national already facing federal charges for running a similar illegal biolab in Reedley, California in 2023. That earlier lab had pathogens like HIV, malaria, and TB samples and received funding from Chinese banks. Zhu has alleged ties to the Chinese Communist Party through state-linked companies and military-civil fusion networks.
A property manager (Ori Solomon) was arrested on hazardous waste and related charges. No active public health threat was found many samples had degraded but the case raised big biosecurity alarms.
