Israel-Hezbollah security talks commence in Washington

Israeli and Lebanese military officials arrived in Washington today for the first security talks since April.
Intensified Israeli airstrikes targeted Beirut suburbs and southern Lebanon just hours before the meetings.
The Lebanese Health Ministry claims 14 people were killed in recent strikes, including several militants.
Israel’s stated goal for the discussions is the total disarmament of Hezbollah forces along the northern border.
Iran is reportedly pushing Lebanon to make Israeli airstrikes a “red line” for any lasting peace deal.
One Israeli soldier was confirmed killed in clashes earlier this Thursday near the border zone.
