Iran has now publicly denied that any ceasefire talks with the United States are happening.

Iranian state media and senior officials have now stated that:

  • They are not engaged in ceasefire negotiations with the United States.
  • They did not request a pause in U.S. strikes.
  • They reject the claim that “productive conversations” took place.

Their messaging frames the U.S. announcement as “propaganda” or “psychological warfare.”

This is the first direct response from Tehran after the President said he paused strikes for talks.

Iranian embassy has pushed back on US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a five-day pause on military strikes against Iranian energy infrastructure, saying that the US president didn’t pause out of goodwill or diplomacy, but because Iran warned it would hit back hard.

In a post on X, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s official diplomatic mission in Afghanistan said that Trump had ‘backed down’ only after Iran issued an explicit warning that any US strike on its energy infrastructure would trigger retaliatory attacks on the energy infrastructure of the entire region.

“After the Islamic Republic threatened that in the event of any US attack on Iran’s energy infrastructure, it would target the energy infrastructure of the entire region, Trump backed down,” the embassy wrote in a post translated from Persian.

News24 reports Iran’s claim that Trump’s pause in strikes was not due to talks, but because Iran forced the U.S. to step back.

IRAN:

– THERE HAS BEEN NO DIRECT OR INDIRECT CONTACT WITH PRESIDENT TRUMP

– TRUMP IS TRYING TO BUY TIME IN THE IRAN WAR

– TRUMP BACKED OFF POWER PLANT STRIKES AFTER IRAN’S WARNING

– TRUMP’S COMMENTS ARE PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE

– HORMUZ WON’T RETURN TO NORMAL IF PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE CONTINUES

Factcheck: No, Iran’s power plants have not been attacked. Israeli strikes today hit infrastructure in Tehran, causing explosions and power outages across parts of the city. No reports confirm hits on actual power stations. Trump threatened US strikes if the Strait of Hormuz wasn’t reopened but just postponed them for 5 days after “productive talks.” Sources: AP, Reuters, NYT as of 11:21 AM UTC.
