On the 90th anniversary of the Social Security Act, Trump will issue a proclamation celebrating what he calls the largest senior tax break in U.S. history.

His administration says most Social Security recipients will now pay nothing in taxes on benefits, citing new provisions in last month’s Republican spending package.

The White House also points to shorter wait times, cleared backlogs, and fraud prevention as proof the program is “stronger than ever” despite critics warning of harm.
