Google working on AI Agent ‘Remy’, could become a 24/7 digital assistant
Google is working on a new AI agent called Remy. It is reportedly designed to act as a full-time personal assistant, managing a user’s digital life. Unlike traditional chatbots, Remy focuses on execution, taking actions on behalf of users rather than just answering questions.
This project is part of Google’s broader push with Gemini, aiming to evolve from a conversational tool into a complete digital operator. Notably leaked Internal documents describe Remy as a “24/7 personal agent” for work, school, and everyday life.
The name “Remy” reportedly comes from the Latin word Remigus, meaning “oarsman” or “rower,” symbolizing the agent doing the heavy lifting for users. It may also be a playful nod to the chef rat in Pixar’s Ratatouille.
What Remy Can Do
Remy is built to handle tasks with minimal human supervision. It can summarize emails, reply to messages, organize meetings, and execute multi-step tasks. The agent also learns user preferences and behavior patterns over time.Once fully developed Google may integrate Remy into its ecosystem of apps including Calendar, Gmail, Docs, and Search. Remy can monitor important events, proactively manage schedules, and adapt to user needs.
This isn’t a chatbot. Project Astra-Agent is built on “Native Reasoning,” meaning it doesn’t just draft an email, it reads your 1099s in Drive, drafts the response to your accountant in Gmail, and schedules the follow-up in your Calendar without you opening a single tab.
Google is leveraging its greatest asset: User Data Density. While OpenAI has to “reach in” via APIs, Google already owns the server room where your life lives. By integrating the agent into the OS level of Android and Workspace, they are making it friction-less to stay in the “Google Cocoon.”
