French PM Lecornu has suspended the 2023 pension reform until after the 2027 election. This is likely to win Socialist support and save his govt. from a no-confidence vote on Thursday. The RN and LFI have said they will file motions. A win for workers, a blow to #Macron’s agenda. pic.twitter.com/eSJo3p00o9

PARIS—The French government on Tuesday proposed suspending President Emmanuel Macron’s signature pension overhaul, an attempt to calm the current political storm and avoid new elections that would shake the country’s political establishment.
In a speech at the National Assembly on Tuesday, Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu said there will be no further increase in the age of retirement before the next presidential election in 2027.
