France on brink of political crisis as prime minister faces confidence vote

French Prime Minister François Bayrou has called for a confidence vote in the French parliament today at 3 PM CEST

He is not expected to win the vote and will likely resign tonight.

This is the first time this has happened in the 5th Republic, which has been in place since 1958, plunging France into (yet another) political crisis.
