Had no idea until yesterday that it was Greg Biffle that set off the HUGE Civilian Pilot airlift to the hurricane-struck Tennessee, Carolina, and Virginia Mountains last week.
He put the word out that help was needed by the mountain communities last week, flew his own helicopter to try and rescue some people, and that exploded into a huge effort by hundreds of civilian pilots to get aid in and people out, completely spontaneous and off the cuff, without government help or interference.
And at their own expense…
In fact, it made Bureaucratic Democrats look horrible.
I got commandeered to fly a mission into a sketchy mountain airport with low clouds myself, as second pilot on someone else’s airplane that we loaded boxes of civilian emergency rations into.
These people deserve all of the praise we can give them. THAT is the real Spirit of America.
