Finally! States legislatures are working to overhaul civil asset forfeiture laws.

On Thursday, a reform bill in the Kansas House passed with unanimous support. A Senate bill was also passed. The reform addresses law enforcement’s ability to take property believed to have been obtained through illegal means before someone is charged with a crime or convicted.

This has been one of the most fucked up things I have ever heard of that law enforcement has been doing to innocent people in my whole life. Thankfully it looks like things may be changing in regard to this injustice.
