DNC HQ on lockdown over ‘incident’

Police are swarming to the Democratic National Committee’s headquarters in Washington DC following a bomb threat that was deemed to not be credible.

A spokesperson for the DNC announced the building received a non-credible bomb threat on Thursday afternoon, but Capitol police are conducting a sweep ‘out of an abundance of caution.’

‘This afternoon, there was a bomb threat to DNC HQ that was determined to not be credible by the U.S. Capitol Police,’ the spokesperson said.

‘Out of an abundance of caution, Capitol Police is conducting an interior sweep of the building. As DNC Chair Ken Martin has said, political violence in every form has no place in our country.’

‘ We are grateful to the U.S. Capitol Police and DNC building security for responding quickly and professionally.’

All staff members in the vicinity were told to steer clear in an urgent alert.

Bomb squad officials were seen responding to the incident on Thursday afternoon.

The alert reads: ‘Capitol Police are responding to an incident at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) Headquarters. Staff are asked to remain clear of the police activity.’
