The Department of Homeland Security has approved a controversial migrant detention facility in Florida’s Everglades, dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz” by Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier. The site spans 39 square miles on a remote, alligator- and python-infested airfield known as the Dade-Collier Training and Transition Airport.
