CPSC issues wave of Amazon recalls over serious safety hazards

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a wave of recalls affecting a wide range of consumer products sold on Amazon, citing risks that include choking, poisoning, entrapment, fire, and burn hazards, and urging customers to “stop using them immediately.” The recalls, issued in early April 2026, span toys, household goods, personal care products, and electronics.

Children’s Toys Recalled Over Choking and Battery Ingestion Risks

Several of the recalls involve toys that pose serious dangers to children.

The CPSC has announced the recall of Coluans Christmas LightUp Rings and Gavoyeat Halloween LightUp Rings after finding that the button cell batteries inside the toys could be easily accessed by children, violating federal toy safety standards. If they’re swallowed, the button cell and coinstyle batteries can cause internal chemical burns and, in severe cases, death. No injuries have been reported, at the time of publishing, but officials are advising families to remove the products from children immediately.
