Consumer sentiment has been struggling recently. According to the latest updates, consumer confidence showed some improvement earlier this year but has started to decline again. The University of Michigan’s Surveys of Consumers reported that the Index of Consumer Sentiment was at 79 in January, the highest since July 2021, but it has remained relatively unchanged through April.
