Colorado says Trump cannot pardon a state prisoner in the Tina Peters election case.

COLORADO STOPS TRUMP FROM FREEING EX-ELECTION CLERK JAILED FOR ELECTION TAMPERING: “NOT ON OUR WATCH!”

Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser just shut down any talk of Trump trying to free ex-clerk Tina Peters.

Trump says he’ll “pardon” her, but Weiser “says not so fast.” This is a state conviction, and presidents can’t override that.

“There’s no legal authority for any federal government action to take a prisoner who’s in state custody lawfully having been tried, convicted, and sentenced.

This is an important principle of our Constitution.

And everyone who says they care about the rule of law, about public safety, and our Constitution needs to care about this issue.”

It’s a classic fed-vs-state showdown, with Weiser warning it’s make-or-break for our republic.
