China’s decision to create a coal transportation rail network and plans for 100 more coal-fired power stations might seem quite ironic. Especially when you consider that these power stations will help make products for the West, including solar panels.
The irony is that while the world talks about reducing carbon emissions and using clean energy, China’s actions seem to be heading in a different direction. It’s a reminder of how complex and sometimes contradictory our efforts to fight climate change can be, especially when they clash with the demand for certain products.
