China unveils 6th gen plane

The U.S. and China are ramping up their competition over next-gen fighter jets. Recently, some photos and videos surfaced online showing what looks like a new Chinese warplane in testing.

Now some reports from China are fueling speculation about the advanced capabilities of their newly unveiled J-36 fighter jet.

Beijing signals tech progress as global fighter jet race heats up
China may be using the release of J-36 images to show it’s keeping pace in the global race to develop next-gen fighter jets. The first footage from China showed a tailless, triangle-shaped aircraft—likened by some to a ginkgo leaf—flying over Chengdu, Sichuan, alongside a J-20 stealth jet.

It was reportedly built by Chengdu Aircraft Corporation, with markings suggesting it’s called the J-36. That same day, another photo taken near a Shenyang Aircraft Corporation facility showed a different jet with V-shaped wings and twin engines. Analysts have tentatively labeled it the J-50, the South China Morning Post reported.
