The nation’s top health agency, the CDC, has been on autopilot for years, but yesterday the brakes were slammed. Susan Monarez lasted 28 days. That was all. Four senior officials resigned within hours. The director was fired for refusing to rewrite vaccine policy under political pressure. The agency is now leaderless. Again. The warning is clear. Monarez was pressured by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Trump administration lawyers to rescind approvals for COVID vaccines. She refused. She was asked to fire senior staff. She declined. Weeks earlier, Monarez testified that she saw no link between vaccines and autism. Kennedy did. He promised to reveal the “cause” of autism in September. New York Times notes this is no longer science. It is a campaign slogan turned federal policy.
Earlier this month, a gunman opened fire on the CDC campus. Six buildings were hit. One officer was killed. Monarez tried to reassure staff.

No one is explaining why the nation’s top health agency is being gutted mid-pandemic. No one is modeling the fallout from firing scientists who will not bend. No one is asking what happens when ideology replaces immunology.
