Female student killed, 4 others shot at Brownsville pre-prom gathering

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A high school student has died after a shooting at a pre-prom gathering in Brownsville that left four other people injured Friday evening, according to officials.
Police said the shooting happened at Webb Banks Passive Park while people were taking prom pictures on Friday evening.
According to TBI officials, when Brownsville police arrived at the park for a shooting call, they found five people with gunshot wounds. Police say all five were taken to a local hospital.
A female student later died at the hospital, according to statements released by law enforcement. Another victim remains in critical condition.
The Haywood County Sheriff’s Office released a statement Saturday mourning the loss of what Sheriff Billy Garrett Jr. described as an “innocent life.”
