A Bolingbrook woman was sentenced to three years in prison for stealing almost $2.5 million from taxpayers by fraudulently billing Medicaid-funded companies for services she did not provide, state officials said.
LaTeena Smith, 38, was the owner of a clinic called Power Positive Youth Development in Bolingbrook, according to Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s office.
Between 2021 and 2023, Smith submitted “fraudulent bills for psychotherapy services” that she did not provide to recipients of “Medicaid-managed care,” Raoul’s office said.
Smith billed Molina Healthcare for more than $978,000 and Meridian Health for more than $1.5 million, Raoul’s office said.
