What You Need To Know
According to the FDA recall published on July 6, the affected blueberries are GreenWise Organic IQF Blueberries sold in 10-ounce bags. Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A produced the berries. This Chilean company initiated the recall after learning that 12 people had fallen ill with E. coli O145:H28 between May 11, 2026, and June 5, 2026. The illnesses were linked to consumption of the recalled blueberries. Publix first issued a press release about the recall three days earlier, on July 3.
Luckily, only one batch with a lot code of 60401 and a best-by date of February 9, 2028, was affected. The blueberries were distributed to Publix stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. However, out of an abundance of caution, Publix is advising customers to discard any Greenwise blueberries purchased on or before July 3, 2026.
