The fact he got kidnapped by the SBU isn’t exactly surprising.
He was living in the Ukraine going around talking about how it was a totally lawless authoritarian country where people just get kidnapped constantly.
And really, there was no reason for him to be living there after a certain point – he wasn’t really doing “on the ground” type reporting after he’d established himself as an expert.
He was sort of just streaming from his apartment.
So, you take risks, and things happen. That’s life.
I think if he didn’t have a US passport they would have killed him pretty early on.
Right now, I'm about to try to get out of Ukraine, and seek political asylum in Hungary.
Either I'll cross the border and make it to safety, or I'll be disappeared by the Kiev regime.
