Houthi Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein al-Ezzi warned on April 19 that the group could close the Bab al-Mandeb Strait if US President Trump and what he called the “complicit world” continue policies they view as obstructing peace in the region.
In a post on X, al-Ezzi wrote: “If Sana’a decides to close the Bab al-Mandab, then all of mankind and jinn will be utterly powerless to open it.” He urged an immediate end to actions that harm Yemeni rights and added that respect must be shown to the Yemeni people and nation.
